| The Celebrated Artist Collection It was our intention to select 10 world renowned artists, each from a different country, to make up the inaugural Common Ground Collection of Celebrated Artists. We are so very thankful to the support we received from artists around the world who wanted to take part in this collection. The difficulty was narrowing it down to only 10. In the end, we chose to honor our ‘Host City” of Beijing by including an extra artist from China.We also wish to thank two of these Celebrated artists who served as jurors in helping select images for the International Touring Collection and the Gifted Artist Series for Common Ground: Artists Victor Raphael from the United States and Amalia Pellegrini from Italy. Respected artists, curators, and educators John and Margie Labadie from the Digital Academy and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke helped to curate the entire International Common Ground collection. Duan Jia, one of the 2 Celebrated Artists from China, was instrumental in curating the Chinese Collection with help from curatorial committee made up of Chinese artists, educators, and filmmakers.
