All the digital art in the Common Ground Collection carries the theme of environmental stewardship.

Throughout history, artists have played a vital role in shaping the 'world-view' of their day. So we’ve invited artists from all over the globe to use the expressive language they know best - visual art and design - to dramatically demonstrate their concerns for our shared environment

The truth is, we hear everywhere about being 'Green" and 'Sustainable.'   But so often, these terms seem to offer little real practical meaning beyond rhetoric and posturing.

But underneath all the words, is a truth that cannot be ignored: We all inhabit the same place that we call home: Earth. That is our Common Ground. We may be divided by borders, language and cultural identity. But still we share the SAME water, the SAME air, the SAME plants, and the SAME common ground that sustains, protects and feeds us all on this planet.

The 2008 Common Ground Collection speaks to a shared concern for this legacy through the intersection of digital art and technology.
